As part of this commitment, this privacy policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use and disclosure of information that we receive when You sign up for and use Copy School (also known as, copyschool.copyhackers.com).

This Privacy Policy only applies to Copy School and doesn’t apply to anyone else’s websites, services, or applications, even if You can access those through Copy School. As long as You use Copy School, You are agreeing to this Privacy Policy and any updates we make to it.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Thanks for being a member of Copy School! We built Copy School to help people like you (“You”, “Your”, “user”, “users”) learn and practice conversion copywriting principles in order to write copy that compels people to act.

That means You can input and store text (known as, “Your Stuff”) in Your Copy School account.  You retain ownership of any intellectual property rights that you hold in Your Stuff. In short, what belongs to you stays yours.

We also collect, receive and securely store the following types of information:

ACCOUNT INFORMATION

When you sign up for a Copy School membership, we collect and process the following information that can be used to identify you (“personally identifiable information” or “PII”):

  • Information you give us like Your name, mailing address, email address, and telephone number.
  • Optional information such as a photograph.
  • Those who engage in transactions with Copy School are asked to provide additional information, including as necessary the personal and financial information required to process those transactions.
  • Usage information such as the browser You are using.

Your PII is used to provide You with ongoing and seamless access to Your Copy School account, such as making sure You find what You’re looking for when You search Copy School. Additionally, Copyhackers Customer Support team may need to access Your information, such as Your account email address, and/or the device and operating system You are using to access Copy School and/or to troubleshoot any concerns You may have when using Copy School. We may keep a record of Your communication to help solve any issues You might be facing.

If You contact Copyhackers Customer Support team for help with specific pieces of Your Stuff in your account (for example, if you can’t access a portion of your subscription that you believe you should be able to access), we may ask for Your permission to look at Your Stuff. The permission to access Your Stuff terminates when the issue is resolved.

If you request a password reset, Your IP address will be included in the reset email.

In accordance with your communication preferences, we’ll occasionally contact You to announce new lessons and features we build for You, share tips for using Copy School to improve your learning efforts, promote special offers, and provide information about how Copy School works with products and services from Our business partners.

INFORMATION RELATED TO USE OF COPY SCHOOL

Our servers automatically record information about how a person uses Copy School, including IP addresses, browser types, operating systems, pages or features of Copy School that were used and time spent on them, search terms and other statistics. We use and analyze (and may engage third parties, such as Hotjar, ActiveCampaign and Google Analytics) to analyze this information to customize and improve Copy School. We also use IP addresses to generate aggregate, non-identifying information about how Copy School is used.

Copy School is specifically designed to be compatible and used on mobile devices. Copy School will collect certain information that Your mobile device sends when You use Copy School, like a device identifier, user settings, location information, mobile carrier, and the operating system of Your device. Mobile versions of Copy School may require that users log in with an Copy School account. In such cases, information about use of mobile versions of Copy School may be associated with the user account.

In addition, in the future Copy School may enable users to download an application, widget, or other tool that can be used on mobile devices. Some of these tools may store information on mobile devices. These tools may transmit Personal Identifying Information to Copy School to enable users to access their Copy School account and to enable Copy School to track use of these tools. Some of these tools may enable users to email reports and other information from the tool.

COPYHACKERS may use personal or non-identifiable information transmitted to Copy School to enhance these tools, to develop new tools, for quality improvement and as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy or in other notices COPYHACKERS provides.

AGGREGATED STATISTICS

COPYHACKERS may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. For instance, COPYHACKERS may monitor contributions to our site(s). COPYHACKERS may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, COPYHACKERS does not disclose personally-identifying information other than what is necessary to share with our trusted partners, as described below.

LOCATION INFORMATION

In some cases We collect and store information about where You are located, such as by converting your IP address into a rough geolocation. We may use location information to improve and personalize COPYHACKERS’s Services.

In each case where We gather PII, COPYHACKERS collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill and/or enhance the purpose of the member’s interaction with Copy School.

COPYHACKERS does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply PII, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

Our Processing Partners

Personal Data about you is in some cases provided to our trusted partners in order to either make providing the service to you possible or to enhance your customer experience. We share your data with:

ActiveCampaign. COPYHACKERS uses ActiveCampaign as its email marketing, customer relationship management and analytics platform. The personal data collected via Activecampaign includes Your email, what lessons You watch and how much of the lesson You watch. Please see here how Activecampaign processes Your data.

Accredible. We issue badges of completion and certificates to You through Accredible. We pass along Your email and first and last names to Accredible. Please see here how Accredible processes Your PII.

Circle. We use Circle.io as our community platform provider. In order to administer our community, “Copy Quad”, Circle collects Your email as well as first and last names. To learn how Circle processes Your PII, see here.

Google Analytics. We measure visitors to Copy School using Google Analytics. This records what pages you view within our site, how you arrived at our site and some basic information about your computer. We do not track the content you produce. The information we collect from analytics helps us understand what parts of Copy School are doing well, and which require changes. Like most websites, we use this information to improve our customer experience. As per Google Analytics Terms of Service we will never transfer any PII or data that permanently identifies a device to Google Analytics. Please see here how Google uses data. You can also opt out if You wish.

Hotjar. In order to improve Copy School members’ experience in the Copy School platform, occasionally, we record the activity of anonymized Copy School members using Hotjar.

MemberPress. Copy School uses MemberPress to administer its subscription program. You can see here the data Memberpress collects and how they process Your data.

Stripe. Copy School uses Stripe as its payment processor. In order to issue a Copy School subscription, Stripe may collect the following PII:

  • First and Last Name
  • Date of birth
  • Email address
  • Billing and shipping address
  • Phone number

Wistia. Copy School uses Wistia to power its videos. When You watch a video on Copy School, WISTIA processes information about that activity – including information like the video You watched, amount of time watched and the time at which the video was paused, device IDs, IP addresses, cookie data, and location.

Zendesk Suite of Products. In order to offer chat, self-service, how-to articles and generally support our users, we use the suite of Zendesk products (Guide, Support, Chat). The according functions are supplied by Zendesk, Inc., 989 Market Street #300, San Francisco, CA 94102, USA, who have concluded an order data processing agreement.

As part of COPYHACKERS customer support, the following data are saved in Zendesk to enable order processing: Name, email address, telephone number, postal code, city, country, device, operating system used to access Airstory. We may also use Zendesk as a medium for communications, either through email, or through in-app messages within our product(s).

We utilize Zendesk to collect data for analytics purposes when You visit or use Copy School. Zendesk analyzes Your use of our website and/or product and tracks our relationship so that we can improve our service to You.

Protection of Your PII

COPYHACKERS discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and trusted third-party partners that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on COPYHACKERS’s behalf or to provide services available at Copy School, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others.

Some of those employees, contractors and trusted partners may be located outside of your home country. By using Copy School, You consent to the transfer of such information to them.

COPYHACKERS will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and trusted partners, as described above, COPYHACKERS discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only when required to do so by law, or when COPYHACKERS believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of COPYHACKERS, third parties or the public at large.

COPYHACKERS takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

Accessing Your Data

If you have Copy School account, You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data You have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about You. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

For Copy School members, we also store the personal information You provide in Your user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Information Collected Using Cookies

Copy School uses cookies. We use cookies to identify users, personalise content, analyse and track members, their usage of Copy School, and their Copy School access preferences.

Copy School members who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using Copy School, with the drawback that most features of Copy School may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

When You log in, we will also set up several cookies to save Your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, Your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of Your account, the login cookies will be removed.
